CERN & SOCIETY

Taking a closer look at LHC

CERN, through the knowledge gained from its research in fundamental physics, contributes to the development of technologies that give rise to important applications in various fields of society, particularly in the areas of health and telecommunications.

In this Website we dedicate a special section to the World Wide Web (WWW) , GRID and HADRONTHERAPY, but many other actions have been generated from CERN over the years. For example, touch screens in mobile and computing devices, PET (positron emission tomography), colour and 3D radiography, collaboration with the aerospace sector or the restoration of works ofe art , are some of the main technological contributions that have been carried out from CERN.
